Do you worry about how to look after and serve your yoga students to the best of your ability who have had a journey with cancer in your class?
As a x 2 Breast Cancer Survivor and a Teacher of Yin Yoga, Hatha Yoga and Restorative Yoga, I get asked a lot of questions about this.
I had breast cancer in my mid 30's, I have had a lumpectomy, radiotherapy, hormone therapy, double mastectomy, and DIEP reconstruction.
And ... a lot of trauma.
I have also successful rehabbed myself, done lot's of positive mindset work and learnt how to rehab my physical body and accept where I am now, with compassion.
In this training...I will teach you
- About the different forms of surgery and reconstructions, what this involves in the body and how to help these bodies in class
- About sentinel and full lymph node clearance and the effects that these have on practise and how you can help.
- How nerve damage and scars affect movement and how to regain movement and fake it till they make it.
- How to get the core working again and get a wider range of motion in the shoulders.
- How trauma will impact them in class and how to hold the space for them beautifully.
- How hormone therapy and chemotherapy will affect emotions and the body.
- and more.
I am honest and frank and teach you all I know.
In this program, there is a 25 minute video teaching all of the above.
Then three separate videos with posture ideas.
1. Engaging the transverse abdominus after surgery
2. Making space in the chest and torso with restorative and yin shapes.
3. Regaining shoulder mobility with strap exercises.
I will be available to you as a student of this program, for questions, and am open to recording more and making it available, adding over time, as questions come in.
You are free to ask me anything, if it is too much, I will say, but I am very open about it all. I want to help others with the experience that I have gained.
